PRACTICAL DRIVER TRAINING (Defensive, Advanced, Secure, Tactical, Corporate Days)

On demand we can conduct practical driver training courses at the following locations:

SDT has conducted driver training programs across Australia and throughout the Asia-Pacific region. We have also conducted training on mine sites, in private (rented) car parks or using gravel hardstand areas or football fields in countries such as Malaysia, China, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Russia, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh, Tonga, Nepal, Egypt and the Philippines.

This type of training requires the availability of a suitable training area or purpose built facility to safely conduct the activities. SDT has $20million PL insurance to allow us to hire suitable training areas. But if such courses are conducted at motorsport venues, then certain insurance companies do not cover the vehicle being used regardless of the activity (no coverage at any speed even doing safety programs). But some insurance companies will cover vehicles at motorsport venues provided the speeds are no higher than 100km/h and it is a legitimate Defensive Driver Training course conducted by an experienced training provider.

4WD OFF-ROAD DRIVER TRAINING

This training requires the availability of a suitable off-road training area or facility. Generally training providers cannot enter state forests or national parks and conduct commercial 4WD training (for fee paying participants) without a permit or licence from the administration of the forest. These permits are very expensive and time consuming to obtain. Some "cowboy" operators pretend they are not training inside the forest but many get caught and are hit with large fines or court notices for such illegal activities.

The main 4WD training locations we use are:

• The Mount View Off-road Proving Ground (Boonah)
• Black Mountain 4WD venue (near Armidale): used for corporate training only (no public access)
• Seeonee Park (Rockhampton)
